In Kairos, we have a rhythm designed to keep both our volunteers and our ministry strong: “3-on/1-off.” It’s not just a guideline; it’s part of how we care for one another and ensure Kairos will continue to thrive for years to come. The only exception to following this rhythm applies to volunteers who are serving in the leadership track.

We understand serving in Kairos is a big commitment. Team formation meetings, Weekend service, and Continuing Ministry all require time, energy, and heart. Many of us pour ourselves in because we love the people we serve, and the mission God has given us.

But we also know the reality, burnout is real. Even the most dedicated servant can’t continually pour out without pausing to rest, refresh, and reconnect with the Lord. A season of rest is not a sign of weakness or stepping back from the call; it’s a vital part of staying strong and effective in ministry.

So, when your “1-off” season arrives, receive it as a gift. Use it to nurture your soul, care for your health, and spend time deepening your walk with Christ. Invite someone new to step in and serve during your break, this is how we grow the next generation of Kairos volunteers.

By embracing this rhythm, we make sure Kairos remains a place of energized, Spirit-led service, not a ministry filled with exhausted hearts and empty chairs.

Rest well. Serve well. Follow the 3-on/1-off rhythm. That’s how we keep ourselves and Kairos strong.
